In the first half of the year Indonesia’s textile domestic sales fell by 20-30%

In the first half of this year, Indonesia’s domestic sales of textiles and textile products were estimated to have dropped by 20-30%, due to the proliferation of imported goods in the domestic market. According to data from the Indonesian Textile Association (API), in the first half of this year, domestic textile sales fell to 33.5-36 trillion rupees.

Sutrachart, president of the Indonesian Textile Association, said that this sales figure is completely different from last year. Last year's net sales increased by 10% to 45 trillion rupees.

Sutrachart said that the sales of these products are usually driven by the demand for Ramadan holidays every year. However, this year, domestic demand for textile products tends to be lower, which is due to various factors. These conditions are expected to continue until the end of August.

Despite the decline in sales in the first half of the year, Sutrachart is still optimistic about the domestic textile industry's sales of 90 trillion rupees, which is basically the same as last year's sales.
